Four Seasons RV Resort in full summer swing! How do we cool off in Salida Colorado?
First and Foremost drink tons of fluids and eat! Eat, eat, eat! It helps acclimate if you are from lower elevations.
There are several ways of cooling off. One of the ways is simply waiting for the sun to go down. The sun is hot at higher altitudes, yet the air is cool and dry. When the sun goes down, the temperature drops dramatically for a beautiful feeling “in the atmosphere”.
One way during a hot day, is to head up the mountains, As you climb thousands of feet in minutes, the higher the altitude, the cooler the air. One can experience seasonal differences, with spring falling very late. Flowers can be seen in July, and even August in different areas of the mountains.
Another way is to dip your feet in the cool waters of the Arkansas River. If you have little ones, there is an easy ramp access area up G street in the town of Salida, where you can wet your toes in the cool Arkansas River waters.  This river is challenging and fast, so care is to be taken with children, yet places are there to enjoy!
Fly Fishing is always fun and when the rivers are faster or slower, the fish are still in the river. Pick your challenges, as you work the fly rod around cool snow melt reservoir waters, as their temperatures cool you down to be at waters edge.
Yes, it gets warm here in the Salida, Arkansas River Valley. Mid summer we are seeing 90 degrees. It is dry however, so the breezes are nice and gusty.
Yet it is a great time to get out and explore. High altitude drives, low altitude relaxing, it has been a great summer! Come be a part of it!
